Dimitri Kieffer (France)š²š« is taking a break from his own expedition (@nexusexpedition), also a circumnavigation
around the world by human power, to join me from Galle, Sri Lanka to Maldives and then to Africa (Tanzania, I guess or elsewhere on the eastern african coast…)
Dimitri is an experienced adventurer with an impressive resume in his bag!
I have known him virtually through the internet for the past 4 years, but first time we met in person was on Feb 2d 2022, when I arrived in Sri Lanka.
Some of you might recall when I mentioned that there was someone who helped me in the background to establish in Sri Lanka good local contacts and prepare my “royal welcoming”. Yes it was this Dimitri who was able to prepare this since his arrival in Sri Lanka on January 20th.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to come and join me in Malaysia beforehand.
At the time, he was kayaking with his wife Gulnara (@gulnarakieffer) the length of lake Malawi, as part of his expedition when a new version of the virus showed up and he had to be 14 days outside the “affected countries”. Then, we had a plan to get him on the boat in Indonesia. We even had to make business visas to be able to enter Indonesia (not a cheap snack…). He was on his way to the airport, when he sent me a message to my satellite phone: “Buddy, I’m flying to Jakarta in 2.5 hours!”
Then once at Paris airport, he found out that he was not allowed to board the plane because it was the day Indonesia shut the door to France and put them in the “bad, dangerous” list!!! Merde!
Next option to team up was Sri Lanka and here we are!š¤š»
I’m very happy that he is joining me to find the way to Africa from here!

Tad nÄca jauns vÄ«rusa paveids, kas ieveda karantÄ«nÄ. Tad sekoja plÄns viÅu dabÅ«t pie manis uz laivas IndonÄzijÄ. Mums pat bija jÄnokÄrto biznesa vÄ«zas! Dimitri jau bija ceÄ¼Ä uz lidostu, rakstot man uz satelÄ«ta telefonu – “Hei! Jau pÄc 2.5 stundÄm lidoju uz Džakartu!” SituÄcija gan pamainÄ«jÄs, kad IndonÄzija atcÄla ielidoÅ”anu no Francijas.
