THE STEERING RUDDER!!! June has started, 6 months since I left Malaysia. Equipment and some parts of the body are starting a protest! 5 days ago a metal binding broke, which holds the steering rudder at the required angle. You know, I wasn’t diplomatic when I saw this. I can steer a bit with the oars, but the steering rudder does the main job! Total fu**! It had taken so many waves, and it had not broken down, but it was moving back and forth with every wave. I’m really surprised at how much I managed to fix it and secure it with a rope! It still has backlash/a bit of movement but it works! The steering rudder is the main player in both rowing and while I’m sleeping, especially in such a side-wind!
Now under the waist… Yes, my butt has suffered a lot! No, there are no furuncles, but on the side-wave you are salty-wet and rubbing your skin 16-18 h per day against a sliding bench, it begins to rub sores, small wounds, where the salt goes in. Unpleasant, but somehow we have to get ahead! I resumed my Atlantic Ocean trick – standing rowing. At the beginning, the movements are rusted, but yesterday I rowed that way mostly.
Who managed to join from the 1K km? It is 892 km till Africa!
